OPHERA is an Italian company run by a team of pharmaceutical and biotechnology researchers. The mission of OPHERA — pursued with technical and scientific support from university laboratories, expert cosmetic formulators and physiotherapists — is to develop personal hygiene and body care products of the latest generation based on innovative and effective natural ingredients.

Management
Luisa Pecorari
Holder of a diploma in Industrial chemistry and a degree in Pharmaceutical Biotechnologies, she completed a research PhD in Experimental and Clinical Oncology (at the Modena Oncology Centre), and has also worked at the renowned Kimmel Cancer Center (Thomas Jefferson University) in Philadelphia. She has specialized in Molecular Oncology since 2006, and is head of molecular biology with Tydock Pharma.
CEO of OPHERA and Project Manager for certain product lines, she is actively involved in the work of the company’s research and development departments..
Alberto Venturelli
After graduating in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technologies, he undertook a research PhD in "Drug Discovery", working at London’s prestigious Imperial College.
Since 2006 he has been involved in the research and development of new drugs with Tydock Pharma.
With OPHERA, he works on the design of new formulas, focusing mainly on the chemical and pharmaceutical aspects of formulations containing innovative natural active ingredients.
History
"We were looking for innovative natural molecules that could become new drugs, and we found natural derivatives with excellent cosmetic properties!"
Ophera has its origins in Modena, in the laboratories of TYDOCK PHARMA (a private pharmaceutical research company established as a spin-off of Modena University), at a time when research was being conducted on new active natural molecules that might become the precursors of candidate drugs.
For this particular project, we had researched plant extracts sourced from ethnomedicine practiced in different parts of the world (especially those untouched by globalization and rich in botanical species still unknown to the international scientific community), exercising due care with regard to underprivileged indigenous peoples, protected botanical species and questions of social and environmental ethics. Intrigued by the potential healing powers evident in certain still relatively unknown essential oils, and confident of our biological and pharmaceutical expertise, we decided to look further into their biological properties and explore possible areas of application, even outside of the classic pharmaceutical sphere. Accordingly, we began testing these plant extracts on ourselves, in the light of our various wellness needs, making cosmetic preparations for our own personal use.
Starting from our own personal situations and necessities (in effect, our team included parents with children suffering from psoriasis, sports enthusiasts with sore muscles, business people with stress-related dermatitis, sedentary workers with musculoskeletal pains and mothers experiencing the joys and physical drawbacks of pregnancy and maternity) and well aware as to the shortage of functional and valid products on the market, we set about designing and developing a number of innovative cosmetic prototypes and assessing their effectiveness for ourselves.
Some of the outcomes were so encouraging that we decided to invest in our ideas by starting up a new company, which with the technical and scientific skills of the group at its disposal would be able to develop innovative and effective cosmetic products formulated with natural ingredients, made to accepted pharmaceutical standards of quality, and offered at an honest price.
Following an extensive R&D programme conducted with the aid of university laboratories, and cosmetic prototyping, we succeeded in designing cosmetics using effective and innovative natural ingredients able to meet the needs of the most demanding, attentive and uncompromising users: ourselves.
